Kindergareten is FUN!

The first couple weeks of kindergarten have been BUSY! We have been working hard on learning and practicing the class and school expectations. In fact, the first 6 weeks of school are devoted to building a safe, nurturing, fun kindergarten community. We have enjoyed lots of Explore (free play) time, some art projects that connect with books we read, extra recess and social time.

Here are just a few snapshots of the fun we've just begun to have! Stay tuned for lots more to come!

Decorating names with stickers!

We read this book as an introduction to a literacy activity based on reading our names.

We read Eric Carle's The Secret Birthday Message. The children enjoyed coloring in a birthday cake, cutting out candles and gluing them on to show their age. From here, we built our birthday calendar that is displayed all year in our Number Corner area.

Towards the end of last week we read Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, decorated all the foods the caterpillar ate, and retold the story as these pieces were glued down.
